![]() I finally took control! Yeah me! OK that's a little much but I at least wanted to get a short post up as my first blog and tell you about my site building experience. Like many of you, I became more curious about the wealth of DIY websites out there. So I decided to kick the tires on several of the most well known, including WIX, WordPress, Squarespace and several others. For some reason (mainly the way my brain works) the Weebly interface seemed to click with me. The interface is very intuitive and easy to follow for a newbie like me. Since I'm in the video business, I realized that having a Pro account was the best option. It allows me to put video into a header to be more visually appealing. It also offered several other features that seemed to make sense. I did realize however, that the site by itself did not satisfy all my needs. So luckily there are a ton of 3rd party plug-ins, and installing them was super easy and really fast. Some if them are free, and a majority of them are less than $10. ![]() The best part about Weebly though is their customer service. There was a slight learning curve on my end, and I found that getting into a "chat" with technical support was the best way to work through issues. The only gripe I have is that the tech support is not 24-7, but maybe they are working on that? My site is very basic and people really want to see the work I do, so I tried to keep it simple. Their user help videos are great, but I found several YouTube sites that had some awesome tutorials. Just search You Tube for whatever you are trying to do in Weebly, and a solution will surely be there. There must be a lot of Weebly users because there is a lot of help available.
If you are a more advanced web designer, there are also many ways to get inside the inner workings and create custom CSS. So all in all if you are looking for a fast and easy way to get a website up and running, I give 2 thumbs up to Weebly. I would welcome any feedback you have on the site and on my video production work as well. If you need a video for anything, look no further than Shoreline Productions. Thanks for your time!
